The South Central Alliance of Churches provides emergency food for our clients.  We serve an average of 40 non-duplicate clients each month an emergency supply of one bag of food from our small pantry.  It is always running low on supplies.

The SCAC emergency food pantry receives no contributions from larger sources such as the Tarrant Area Food Bank as the Food Bank sources the pantries housed in the same building as our office and down the street at Crossroads Community Center.    The SCAC emergency pantry is sourced almost entirely by donantions from our member churches and the community.  We do from time to time ask the pantry at Southside Church to add a bit to their order from the Tarrant Area Food Bank for which we reimburse them.  We provide one bag of emergency food to client to get them through until a next paycheck pr assistance check or next visit to a larger food pantry.  The larger food pantries limit visits to one time per every so many weeks, usually once a month.  The hunger in our communities is great. Please be as generous as possible, especially with sources of protein

Make Collecting Food a Ministry

Consider asking your congregation or civic group to make a ministry or service project out of collecting food for the South Central Alliance of Churches emergency food pantry.   This a great project for any size group.  Entire congregations and youth groups enjoy doing food drives for us.

Some ideas from previous food drives include:

  • Involve the family in deciding what to contribute or how much to give.
  • Shop for extra portions of your favorite food.
  • Say a prayer of blessing for those who will receive your donation.

If you would like help designing a food drive to benefit our pantry, or would like to schedule a time to drop off a donation,  please contact our Program Director, Opel Smith, at 817-923-0486 or
